Overview

Raw cotton wick is soft. Fed straight into a mould tube it kinks, wanders off centre and snags — and an off-centre wick makes a candle that burns down one side.

This machine is not a single dip. It folds a long production line into a vertical tower: each cord is drawn off its bobbin, over a seven-groove top sheave, down the back of the tower, under a seven-groove roller that runs below the surface of a thermostatic wax bath, and up the front again into the next groove. Seven grooves, seven dips.

That order matters. The first pass is impregnation — low-viscosity wax drawn into the capillary spaces between the fibres — not a coating on the outside. Every pass after it lays a layer that the fans set before the cord returns to the bath, so what comes off the machine is round, even and hard right through rather than a wax tube around a dry core.

Two channels run side by side on their own bobbins, grooves and driven take-up drums, so both can be produced at once. Number of passes, bath capacity, drum size and fan configuration are built to your requirement.

One detail is worth knowing because it decides how the machine is lived with: the roller set is bolted to the frame and does not move. Immersion depth is set by winding the whole WAX TANK up around the rollers on a handwheel screw. Threading is never disturbed by a depth change, and at shutdown the tank simply winds down — the wax may set solid in it without freezing a single groove.

Key features

  • Dual channel — two independent cords, each with its own bobbin, grooves and drum
  • Seven-groove sheaves top and bottom: seven dip-and-cool passes per channel
  • Fixed roller set; immersion depth set by raising the wax tank on a handwheel screw
  • Ascending runs on the tower front, descending on the back — two fans reach both
  • Three-groove exit sheave and a shared two-groove end roller, one groove per cord
  • Dancer arm on each cord to buffer the take-up
  • Thermostatically controlled bath with floor heating tubes and a low drain valve
  • Wedge cantilever arm carries the take-up drums out at its own level, each half of the rear extension; the drums are the only haul-off
  • Stainless construction; bath capacity and drum size built to order

Operating note. The pass count is fixed by the hardware — seven grooves means seven dips. What is left to set is wax, bath temperature, line speed, immersion depth, tension and cooling, and they are judged on the wick that comes off the machine, not on any single dial.
