Double-Wall Oil Jacket Wax Melter

A jacketed melting tank: an inner vessel holding the wax, an outer shell, and a sealed charge of thermal oil in the space between them. The heating elements sit in the oil, not in the wax.

This matters for any wax that discolours or degrades on a hot surface. In a direct-heat tank the metal above the element runs far hotter than the bulk of the melt, and wax sitting against it scorches — you see it as yellowing, dark specks and a burnt smell that carries into the finished candle. An oil jacket spreads the heat over the whole wall area, so the hottest surface the wax ever touches is only a few degrees above the set point.

The tank is fully enclosed and insulated, with a hinged lid and a geared agitator mounted on top, so a batch can be brought up to temperature, blended and then held without opening it. Oil fill and drain ports and the wax outlet are all brought out low on the shell, and the control box at the lower corner carries the thermostat, switch and breaker.

Choose this over a direct-heat melter when you run soy or blended waxes, light-coloured or unpigmented candles, or fragranced product where a burnt note is unacceptable. Tank volume, heating capacity, agitator and voltage are built to your requirement.
